02/21/2022 - All-In Membership - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Axel is an athletic SS/C who will graduate in 2025. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean and presents out front but needs to present earlier. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (6.97 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.51 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Axel has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
