07/29/2014 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Bailey showed solid improvements as the week progressed during the UA Southwest Championships. Defense is solid, feet are quick, and reads the ball off the bat well. Bailey displayed a good drop step, a clean transfer, and a strong arm to his target. On the hill, Bailey works on a downhill plane, he is deceptive to the plate, and he hides the ball well. His CB shows well and his in the zone with his pitches. He was effective keeping the ball down in the zone and getting ground balls. Offensively, Bailey is a contact hitter with good bat speed and a high finish. He has a good hitting foundation and solid pop in his bat. He puts the barrel on the ball consistently and battles every time he steps into the box. Bailey is a hard worker, who has a willingness to learn and wants to get the best out of himself. He is a talented player who should make an impact on the diamond.

05/24/2014 - National Tryout - Salt Lake City, UT Bailey has made progress on the bump. FB now jumps out of his hand and cracks the mitt at 86 mph while showing run. He works to stay on top and works his tall frame downhill. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all 3 pitches. He has more in the tank with more lower 1/2 drive off the rubber. In the OF, Bailey takes a quick first step and moves well glove-side. He fields the ball cleanly and works in-line toward his target. At the plate, this switch hitter shows best from the right side. He gets back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is short and he squares the ball up. A strong RHP - Bailey will throw strikes and get outs.

06/27/2013 - California Select Training & Competition Bailey showed as a C/RHP at the California Select Training event and flashed in-game pops as low as 2.1 seconds. Behind the dish, he has a quiet glove, good tracking and an ability to exchange and thrower effectively with carry. Offensively, he hits from both sides, with a middle approach. He needs some more work with his lower half and needs to be more direct with the barrel from the left side. On the mound, he throws two pitches for strikes with his breaking ball having good 11/5 break. Bailey is a very athletic player that has a strong build and projects well at the next level.

05/25/2013 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Bailey is a switch hitting catcher who has an athletic build. As of now, he swings best as a RHH. He shows a tall setup and good balance, delivering the barrel to the zone with quick hands. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the whole field well. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 will help to increase power off of the bat. Behind the plate, Hogan shows a low target and has a solid base. He sticks the ball and has a clean exchange (pop times as low as 2.09). Blocking; he works around the ball in the dirt and centers the ball off of his chest. As a catcher with a strong arm and all-around solid skill set, Bailey should have success over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
