06/17/2016 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Bailey is a skilled corner INF who showed well during his time at the USA Baseball 17U Championships. At 3B - he has active pre-pitch and is quick to move right and left. He presents a soft mitt out in front, gathers well and zips strong/accurate throws across the diamond. He has the ability to throw from multiple arm slots allowing him to make the throw on the run with ease. Behind the dish, he sits in well and tracks pitches into a soft/sure mitt. He works hard laterally to body up pitches in the dirt. Throws are on the bag as he gains ground and fires from a short/quick arm - pop times of 2.13. Bailey does a good job of reading hitters tendencies and helping his pitchers to make the necessary adjustments. As a hitter - Bailey has centered balance with rhythm in his hands. He has good zone awareness drawing 3 walks at the event. Swing is level/repeatable as he connects and drives the middle of the field. Swinging against a more firm front side will allow him to engage his full lower 1/2 - resulting in increased pop. On the mound, Bailey has a compact/repeatable delivery. Arm is quick as the FB is somewhat deceptive to hitters - cracking the mitt at 81 mph. Link is a solid prospect who will make an impact as he approaches his senior year.

02/07/2016 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Bailey showed as a switch hitting C/3B with a 5'10/190 lbs frame at his first outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively at the hot corner, he had easy actions to make plays with subtle hands and threw with carry across the diamond. He made plays right and left with signs of fundamental polish and has advanced overall feel. Behind the dish, he worked with a sure glove in front to receive and handled the ball down with no problem. He had fluidity and rhythm to catch and throw and flashed pops as low as 1.97. Offensively, he had a similar approach from both sides with flashes of rhythm and a direct bat path. He was compact through the zone and used all fields well. Continued work with his top hand strength for a line-drive path with greater extension will be key to his growth and development. In all - Bailey is a strong prospect that can really do it with the glove and has the switch hitting allure that's intriguing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
