10/28/2015 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Bailey continues to show consistency in his game as he enters his senior season. He is a hard worker and a great team player. Behind the plate, he works to 2B with quick feet, quick hands and a low/athletic throwing base. His times remain in the 2.1-2.4 range with ability to improve those times as arm strength builds. At the plate, Bailey attacks FBs in the zone and makes solid contact frequently. He works to stay inside the ball and drive it on a line. Overall, Bailey is a solid all-around prospect who possesses tools of a next level player.

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Bailey continues to show a promising future behind the plate. Pop times showed in the low 2.10 range with accuracy and carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he shortens arm path and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. He did a nice job of calling pitches and handling staff behind the dish. At the plate, hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side with power numbers improving as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Roberts continues to show as a catcher at the event with steady play in his baseball abilites. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the low 2.20 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a short / level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 5 for 10 with 2 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a tough kid, very coachable, and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/07/2014 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Bailey is a (5'11"/175) backstop who can play. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with a strong base. He has quick hands firing the barrel to and through the contact point. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. Driving his lower 1/2 will help to reach his untapped power potential. Behind the dish, Roberts sits in well with flexion and receives with good pocket awareness. He sticks pitches and frames well. Quick footwork allows him to center pitches in the dirt, smothering them off of his chest. Throws down to 2B get there in 2.12 as he has a clean exchange and strong arm. Only a 2016 grad - Bailey is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
