05/30/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Lawrenceville (Atlanta), GA Barrett is a lean, lanky RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82 mph. Breaking ball sits from 70-72 mph with 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is slightly harder with tight spin and 11/5 shape. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, he shows outstanding hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off bat when centered. Barrett has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve his game.
