12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Barry is a long, strong two-way player who continues to improve his game. He shows feel to pitch with a clean arm stroke, sound mechanics and the ability to command his pitches to both sides of the plate. He features a three-pitch mix including a fastball with run up to 77mph, a 2-8 curveball and a changeup with arm side action. He holds runners well and can shut down the run game and induces weak contact working downhill to hitters. At first, he has feel around the bag to make good angles to receive throws. He gets to a good pre-pitch position and works quickly to the ball. Working on his glove angle will allow him to make tough plays on hard hops. At the plate, he has a strong, lower half to whip the bat through the zone with great bat speed. He sprays hits to all fields and makes consistent, hard contact. Barry is a talented player with lots of potential on the field.

09/30/2018 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Barry is a lean LHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Barry gathers over the rubber and works with a quick arm. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 59-63mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 57-63mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Barry can improve as a pitcher by staying inline towards the plate. In the field, Barry makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Barry can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He leads well with his lower half and drives the ball to his pull side. Barry can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Barry has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/14/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Barry is a coachable LHP/1B prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the D.C. All Star Experience. On the mound, Barry gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm action and stays inline towards the plate. Barry has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 61-62mph with 2-8 break. Changeup ranges from 60-61mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Barry can improve as a pitcher by extending through on his release. In the field, Barry shows active footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange with a quick release on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry through his target. Barry can improve defensively by stretching later when receiving throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Barry can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Barry has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/24/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Tacoma (Seattle), WA Barry is a tall, athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Barry has good range, fluid footwork, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He flashes a good backhand, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Barry stands over the rubber well balanced, he has good glove side lead, and competes in the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Barry has a square set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and has fast bat speed. He makes hard contact, gets good extension through the ball, and works it gap to gap. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
