10/14/2009 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2009
Baskin continues to improve his baseball skills. Performed very well while pitching. Had a long easy fluid arm action with good extension thru pitch. Got to balance point and repeated delivery with good direction to HP. He was not afraid to pitch inside to hitters. Showed a good feel on how to change speeds and make adjustments. Would like him to speed up delivery out of stretch. In the OF, had good jumps with fly balls and take proper angles to balls in the gap. At times, back-peddled on balls over head. Throws were accurate with carry on it. At the plate, had good knowledge of zone. Demonstrated a very good opposite field approach as he hit balls to all fields. Had quiet approach as he stayed balance throughout swing. As he turns on inside pitch, pull-side power will improve. Hit a lot of balls hard during the event.
07/12/2009 - Team One South 2009
05/22/2009 - E-ACR - Maryland 1
Baskin showed improvement at the plate by increasing his hitting grade and power grade. At the plate, had quiet load with quick hands to hitting zone. Was able to center balls and hit lasers all over the field. The ball exploded off the barrel. Showed balance and barrel accuracy with every swing. In the OF, showed good loose arm action. Took appropriate angles to get behind ball. Played through every ball aggressively while fielding it on proper side. Stringent long toss program will help improve velocity. On the mound, he kept his eyes on his target at all times while throwing a heavy ball with some arm-side run. Good separation was followed by good glove side lead with decent use of lower half. Lands in an open position at times which causes him to fly open and have hand on side of ball. When he lands in line with his target, does good job of getting on top of his pitches.
08/31/2008 - National Tryout - Oklahoma City, OK
Baskin is a young two way player on the mound and in the outfield. Currently, he only projects on the mound, where he has a big upside. He has an outstanding body suited for the mound that does show projection as it continues to fill out. He utilizes his tall frame in working on a strong downhill plane. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 87 mph. Changeup is solid average showing a good feel with sinking action. He throws a slider that needs further development, but show flashes of being promising. He has a repeatable delivery with good rhythm and tempo. With 2 years to further develop, Baskin will get a ton of looks and could develop into a prospect.
