01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Beau is a strong LHH catcher who can absolutely swing it. At the plate, this lefty stands in well with a solid base and rhythm in his hands. He gets good separation and fires the barrel with authority. The ball jumps off of his barrel - spraying it to the deep parts of the park. Behind the plate, Bratton puts his athleticism on display with his quick lateral movements. Throws down to 2B are on the bag as he gains ground and replaces his feet well. Left handed hitting catchers are a hot commodity that will garner attention from coaches & scouts all over the country. Beau has a very bright future ahead of him.

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Beau is a leader behind the dish. Defensively, he takes control of the game and is a fantastic pitch-caller. He sits in well with flexion and athletic actions. He moves well laterally, centering/deadening pitches off of his chest. Exchange is quick/smooth as he gains ground and puts throws on a line accurately to 2B (pop times now at 2.00 flat). As a hitter, Beau has and athletic setup with rhythm to load. Quick hands fire the barrel on a short/direct path resulting in hard contact. He battles in every at bat and proved to be a tough out. Bratton has the tools and mental makeup that will play at a very high level.

02/08/2015 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Beau continues to develop his skills. Behind the dish, exchange is quick/efficient as he gains ground, in-line toward 2B (pop times now at 2.03). He puts his throws on the bag accurately and will control the running game. With the bat, Beau displays good balanced throughout the entire swing. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. He squares the ball up consistently, gets out of the box and runs a hard 90' down to 1B. Bratton is a LHH catcher that has worked hard and molded himself into quite a solid prospect.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Beau showed his consistent ability on both sides of the ball at the Omaha National World Series with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he sat low and wide, presented his glove well, received with firm wrists. He was accurate to throw, flashing pops in the 2.2 range. As Beau continues to progress, he should focus on anticipating the ball in the dirt and on his communication to his team. Offensively, he got activated with his hands in his launch, and was simple with his approach. He stayed in the middle of the field and was compact to hit with plus contact potential. Working to perfect his timing and staying strong with his hands in a good position back will increase hit ability and power potential. Overall - Beau is a great kid, that plays the game hard, but keeps the energy high with a good/fun mentality.

05/18/2014 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Beau is a 2016 catcher with above average defensive ability. Behind the dish, he sits easy, tracks well, moves well laterally and smoothers to block. He is soft with his hands to receive and has carry on his throws down to second, flashing pops from 2.18 - 2.3 seconds. Speeding up his transfer and staying short with his arm action will increase effectiveness to throw. Offensively, he is direct with his hands and gets extended through contact. He accelerates the barrel to and through the zone and is accurate with the barrel. Overall - Beau is a promising player with time to improve and fine-tune his ability for next level play.

02/09/2014 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Beau is a catcher who graduates in 2016. Behind the dish, he tracks the ball into his mitt and sticks it. He shows quick feet and a quick/clean transfer getting the rid of the ball. He puts the ball right on the bag accurately with pop times as low as 2.21. Offensively, this LH swinger displays a tall setup with a solid base. He has smooth rhythm and gets back into a strong loaded position. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power at the plate. As only a sophomore - Beau still has time and room to improve and get his game where he wants it to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
