07/14/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Ben is an athletic OF/2B prospect who showed to be a real team player during his time at the D.C. All Star Experience. In the field, Ben covers ground well and fields with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Ben can improve defensively by taking a quicker first step. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He shows a fluid rhythm and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. Ben can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With four more years to develop, Ben has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/20/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ben is a small and athletic 2022 OF/2B prospect. In the OF, Ben gets a good read off the bat, and creates angles to the ball. He stays down on ground balls and sees them into his glove. Continuing to work behind the ball will create momentum and allow ben to follow his throws. At the plate, Ben starts in a tall stance, has a squared stride and uses his lower half. He's direct to the ball and hits consistent hard line drives. Continuing to have a loose grip and loading his hands into the drive position will allow him to get his front foot down on time. Ben is a coachable player and is a high energy. Ben will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
