Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

10/27/2019 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Ben is a scrappy OF/RHP that will graduate in 2021. In the OF, Ben shows active footwork with plus range to the glove side. He keeps his hands firm while fielding and makes clean exchanges. His throws are accurate with momentum and are online to the infield. At the plate, Ben sets up in a square stance with a short stride as he loads. He keeps his balance centered as he rotates against a firm front side. His bat path is short to the ball making consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, Ben shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. On the mound he gathers over the rubber and works hard to get downhill. He keeps his direction square as he works toward the plate rotating his hips well to finish. Overall, Ben shows solid abilities to be a 2-way player and has several years to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
