Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

02/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Ben is a 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame athletic build, with broad shoulders, and strength throughout. At 1B, he starts with a pre-pitch routine, with efficient feet, and showed ability to turn glove side on his throws to second. Takes good 1st steps to the baseball while creating good fielding angles and showed a good glove angle. Made accurate and on-line throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 76mph. Showed good feel around the bag and scooped baseballs. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectible from. He works exclusively from the stretch. A clean leg lift and a good rear hip coil starts his delivery. He showed a simple/repeatable delivery and works with good tempo. Throws a FB that sits 70-71mph with plus command, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth through the strike zone, and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. CB was best pitch during his bullpen. At the plate, he hits from an upright and closed stance. Keeps his weight between his knees and is centered at contact. Hit balls to the pull side. With another year and half of growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Tomball (Houston), TX Ben is a 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame thick build, with strength present. At 1B, he starts with efficient feet and a good pre-pitch routine. Tries to center baseball, with ability to pick out hops, and fields from a square fielding position. Quick arm action into an over-the-top release point with consistent throws to second base at 77mph. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch. Works with good direction and showed ability to drop arm slots. Throws a FB that sits 71-73mph with some cutting action. Mixes in a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with good depth through the strike zone and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed and some movement. CB was his best pitch during his bullpen. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an athletic and open stance. Smooth swing, with intent in swing, and ability to turn on pitches middle in. Flat barrel path with ability to stay long and through the baseball. Made consistent contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 86mph during his round of BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
