Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Ben is an OF/RHP that graduates in the class of 2025 and showcased his talents at the Baseball Factory Select Training and Competition. In the OF, he looked very comfortable. He showed a good first step and good/ aggressive angles towards the ball. He has a low fielding position as he fields the ball out front of his body, while working behind the ball well. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action and has good accuracy on his throws. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher attacked hitters while maintaining good poise. He showcased a FB that was up to 69mph that had some run to it as well. Ben had a curveball with a 10/4 shape that he was able to throw for a strike in all counts. In the game he allowed just 1 run in 3 innings of work. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a tall/ open stance with a low hand slot. He had an active load and had great balance at the plate. He proved ability to be able to hit the ball to all fields in live game, reaching base twice with a single and a walk. Ben stole several bases and was a threat on the base paths. As Ben continues to grow and develop, we see him continuing to take big strides on the baseball field.

08/08/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Ben continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on changeup with sink. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

Baseball Factory Denver All-Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Ben is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame lean build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, good reads off the bat and a good pre-pitch routine enables him to take good routes to balls. Athletic fielding position with ability to make routine plays. Accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity of 69mph into the infield. On the mound, this right-handed pitcher works down the mound with good tempo. Good direction towards the plate and ability to throw strikes. Mixes speeds and showed he isn't afraid to throw inside to hitters. Sets hitters up with a FB that was up to 67mph and a breaking ball with 10/4 shape and tight spin. In 2 innings of work, Ben stuck out 5 hitters and showed ability to control the run game. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an upright and even stance. Showed ability to make contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 63mph. Had 2 singles and 2 base on balls in live game action. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Pirate City Ben is a lean OF who will graduate in 2025. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 5. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 5 years to further develop, Ben has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
