06/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida Ben is an athletic OF/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.75. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (93 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (86 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 86-87 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late break and is an outstanding pitch that will get outs. Command / control is outstanding as he locates well to both sides of the plate. Ben has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
