12/01/2013 - College PREP - Los Angeles, CA Ben is a RHP who has a pitcher's frame (6'1"/180 lbs). He has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He gets good glove tuck and works in-line toward the dish. FB tops out at 79 mph while CB shows 11/5 shape. He shows good command and works both sides of the plate. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to increase velocity on his FB. As a hitter, Ben displays an athletic setup and gets back into a loaded position. He delivers the barrel from a strong position and swings on a level path. Creating more extension through the ball will help to increase pop off of his barrel. Ben should have some success on the bump this upcoming season.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
