04/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Washington, DC Ben continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60time to date, now a 7.39 runner. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through a closed setup. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (88 mph exit velocity) as he connects with gap to gap pop. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. With 3 years to further develop, Ben has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ben is a talented 1B/LHP that showed well at the Rookie Pre-Season All-American. At 1B, Ben works hard to get to the ball as he reacts off the bat. He fields the ball in a good square position out in front of is body with comfortable hands. His exchanges are clean as he creates momentum to the target. He gets rid of the ball with a loose arm action delivering the ball with strength and accuracy. At the plate, Ben sets up in a tall stance with high hands and shows a simple load to start the swing. He gets his lower half through creating fast bat speed showing he can hit to all fields but +power to the pull side. On the mound, Ben dominates the zone with his FB that has good AS run. Pitching, he shows confidence on the bump starting with a relaxed knee lift and works down the mound with a proper stride length. He works hard to get out front finishing with good extension. Ben shows solid abilities as a two-way player and will continue to grow and develop.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ben continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. On the mound, he shows a long, loose, and live arm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-72 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with tight spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. At 1B, feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has really improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he as 3 for 7 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

12/08/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ben is a hard working and intelligent 2024 prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Hitting Weekend. At the plate, Ben starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and hits off a firm front side. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, create backside rotation with his lower half, and be on time for the fastball. Ben will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/03/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ben is an athletic and talented pitching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend. On the bump, Ben has a three-quarter arm slot, a loose arm action, and finds a good balance point in his delivery. He needs to continue to gather over the rubber, separate on time, and control his landing. Riding his back leg to the plate and working north to south will help him get on top of his fastball and work down in the zone. Ben is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

10/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Potomac, MD Ben is a tall, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. In the INF, Ben has quick feet, presentable hands, and very good range to the ball. He makes plays consistently, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a loose arm action with momentum to his target. On the mound, Ben has a loose, low 3/4 arm slot, he mixes his off-speed well, and is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Ben has an athletic set-up, he loads well, and flashes fast bat speed. He swings on plane, hits with strength to the pull side, and uses some lower body. Ben can further improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
