12/29/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Ben continues to show as a prospect with his improvements on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.06 runner. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has some strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered with gap-to-gap pop.

04/28/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Ben continues to show a promising future on the diamond with his baseball tools. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the OF, feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ben is an atheltic OF prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Ben shows efficient footwork and works behind the ball. He makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and rotates his core well, driving the ball to all fields. With three more years to develop, Ben has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/28/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Ben improved hitting grades during his last workout in Philly. He is a young, talented hitter with an open stance, a good load, and solid balance. He has fast bat speed, makes hard contact, and he can work the ball gap to gap. Hitting and power grades improved to 50 and 48 respectively. In the OF, Ben shows active feet, a low/athletic fielding position, and he reads the ball off the bat well. He picks out the right hops, squares his shoulders properly, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his cut off man. We expect Ben to continue to improve; he has a high ceiling.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ben is an athletic and talented 2022 OF prospect. In the OF, Ben is on time with his prep step, he's aggressive to the ball, and has a clean exchange. He showed off his arm strength and accuracy in game two by throwing a runner out at the plate. Continuing to improve his first step quickness will allow him to have more efficient routes to the ball. At the plate, Ben starts in a crouched position and is on time with his stride. He loads his hands back into the drive position, has fast hands, and keeps the barrel on plane. Continuing to drive the back hip into the ball and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to drive the ball gap to gap. Ben will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
