01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Ben is a 2027 OF who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. A left-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic and open stance with comfortable hands. Has a simple load, with a controlled stride, and hits into a firm frontside. Showed a compact swing with good barrel control. He hit line drives consistently to all fields. During the games, Ben reached base 4 times with a triple, a single, a base on balls, and reached on an error. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Ben making huge strides on the baseball field.

08/09/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Ben improved his foot speed at the event as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with online carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Ben has a big upside with time and room to progress his game.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Ben is an athletic LHP/OF prospect who showed well during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Ben gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Ben operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 64-65mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 66-67mph with cutting action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Ben shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. He is smooth to load and leads well with his lower half, producing solid contact. Overall, Ben is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as he continues to progress.

07/22/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (MS) Ben continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. In the OF, he reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/28/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Bowie, MD Ben continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

06/21/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Frederick, MD Ben is a LHP/OF who will graduate in 2027. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add more strength. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher starts 45 degrees on the rubber with a clean gather. Showed good tempo to delivery and throws with intent. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a fast hand, and has a deceptive release point. Throws a FB that sat 64-67mph with some arm side run through the strike zone. Mixed in a 2/8 breaking ball and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed with good depth. CH was his best pitch during his bullpen. In the OF, he starts with active/efficient feet and works around ground balls. Takes aggressive routes to the ball. High catch with active feet throughout the process. Clean transfer, with a high exchange, and gets his shoulders squared to throw. Long/loose arm action in the back working into a 3/4 release point coming forward. Accurate and on-line throws into the infield at 73mph. Ben hits from the left side with an upright and open stance. Tracks pitches well, with a flat bat path, and an all fields approach. Makes hard contact, with good extension out front, and ability to hit ball where it is pitched. Hit line drives to all fields and a bat exit velocity of 76mph. With continued growth and development, we see Ben having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Ben is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who continues to progress on the field. On the mound, Ben gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and strides inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Ben shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 61-62mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 61-62mph. In the field, Ben shows efficient footwork and fields in a square position. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance with comfortable hands. He works through a level swing and rotates his core through well, producing strong line drives. Overall, Ben is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the diamond.

08/23/2020 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Ben continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he reads balls well off the bat in taking proper first step. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and utilizes his lower half well. He is a coachable player who leaves it all on the field.

06/15/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Bowie, MD Ben continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a level swing path with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 6 years to further develop, Ben has a big upside with time and room to continue to progress his game

02/29/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Offensive Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 12-14) Ben is an athletic LHH that continues to progress. As a hitter, this lefty stands in athletically with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He tracks pitches out of the pitchers hand and into the zone. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the ball at contact as he works to engage his lower 1/2 and get as much out of the swing as he can. The ball jumps when centered as he posted his best exit velocity to date, 66 mph. Ben is a hard working athlete who still has a ton of time to build strength and improve.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Ben showed very well all over the diamond during his time in Pirate City. He increased arm strength to 61 MPH, exit velocity to 60 MPH, and showed solid stuff on the mound. Ben is confident over the rubber, he gathers himself well, and shows a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, throws strikes, and finishes in a complete position. In the OF, Ben gets goods reads off the bat through quick/fluid footwork. He tracks well, fields ground balls out in front, and has a quick release with accuracy to his cut off man. Offensively, Ben has a tall/open set-up, an activated hand load, and a level swing. He makes hard/consistent contact and rotates his lower body through the ball.

12/07/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ben is a LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing and hits against a strong front side, leading to loud contact and line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Ben improve as a hitter. With six more years to develop, Ben has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Ben is a lean, athletic OF/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he tracks proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an aggressive approach. Hands are quick, and work through level swing path. He makes consistent contact, showing a line drive approach with plus barrel accuracy, flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 56-57 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late break and good depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, works to throw more strikes, and develops better off speed stuff. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, plays hard, and is very coachable. With 6 years to further develop, Ben has an upside on the diamond with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
