01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Ben is a lean 3B that will graduate in 2016. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields and shows gap to gap pop. Hitting grades will continue to climb if he can work to get stride foot do sooner (which will help to improve his timing). Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displays clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, presents hands more out front, and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and increase foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, is a hard worker, and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Ben has abilities with time and room to improve.
