Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

05/23/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Benjamen is a RHP/3B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, Benjamen works inline toward the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. He operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph. Curveball sits at 61mph with 9-3 break. Slider sits at 64mph with good movement. Changeup sits from 65-67mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Benjamen be more controlled throughout his delivery. In the field, Benjamen presents his hands out in front and fields with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line through his target. Benjamen can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid contact. Working through shorter, more level swing can help Benjamen create more consistent contact. Overall, Benjamen is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Benjamen is a broad, strongly-built two-way player with good potential on the field. He flashes big time pop at the plate with strong hands and extension through the ball to drive it. He has a strong idea of the strike zone, picking out a pitch he can drive and launching on a direct path. He stays balanced throughout his swing with a strong lower half to make consistent contact to all fields. At the hot corner, he shows smooth footwork going to both sides of his body to make plays. He has a good glove angle to field and a clean exchange to make accurate throws across the diamond. On the bump, this right hander features a fastball up to 60mph that he controls to both sides of the plate along with a 12-6 curve and mid 50's changeup. He is always around the zone, working ahead of hitters and works with good tempo. Getting to a strong balance point will allow him to keep his body in sync and get to a consistent release point moving forward. Benjamen is a player we are excited to continue watching develop on the field.

07/10/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ Benjamen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 62 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-83 mph with heavy action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws to hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground, working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.99 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks the ball well and sticks balls in zone, displaying a soft glove action. He utilizes his body well but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power shows best to the pull side and will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/17/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Benjamin is a young RHP/C who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Benjamin does a good job of centering the ball when receiving. Benjamin can improve as a catcher by presenting a lower target and by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, Benjamin sets up in a crouched stance from the right side. He gets back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He produces hard contact with fast bat speed which leads to gap to gap power. Benjamin can improve as a hitter by creating less movement in his stance. On the mound, Benjamin shows a two pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 56-58mph. Changeup sits from 51-52mph. Benjamin can improve as a pitcher by using a higher leg kick and by maintaining his arm speed. Mental makeup is a plus as Benjamin showed to be coachable and was a great teammate during the event. Overall, Benjamin is a young prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

11/12/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Benjamen is a young RHP/C who shows great hustle and the willingness to learn. On the mound, Kull throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a strong lower half and good extension on his release. He showed the ability to throw strikes but will need to work on some fundamental areas to improve consistency. Working on a controlled balance point, staying back upon approach to the plate, and maintaining a strong front side are areas he can focus. Behind the plate, Benjamen presents a good target and showed the ability to reach a strong arm slot. His throws have carry and pop times will continue to improve with quicker feet. Working on blocking skills with a focus of trusting his body to secure the baseball will help improve his ability behind the dish. Offensively, Kull displayed an aggressive approach with good balance and bat speed. His hand path works to the ball with good extension. Focusing on his load and stride getting his front foot down earlier will help strengthen his swing. With another year before High School, Benjamen has plenty of time to increase his skill set.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
