07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Benjamin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B and 3 BB as he displays good plate discipline. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He works to square balls up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on the pitch. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.
