07/28/2019 - College PREP - Virginia Beach, VA Benjamin is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Benjamin shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting back into his load and takes a direct swing, leading to loud contact with gap to gap pop. On the mound, Benjamin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Benjamin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 62-66mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-73mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Benjamin is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Benjamin is an athletic two way prospect who continued to show well during his time at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Benjamin shows efficient footwork and is very agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low fielding position and makes consistently on-line throws across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, Benjamin shows a solid delivery and good control of his pitches. He has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 64mph with 11-5 break. He shows good feel for his changeup sitting at 62mph. Benjamin is a skilled prospect who shows upside on the diamond.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Benjamin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 5 for 6 with 4 RBI. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. He is a versatile player that can play many positions.

05/21/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Benjamin is a lean, athletic SS/RHP. Defensively at SS, he displays solid footwork as he gets into a square/athletic fielding position. Hands are presented out in front with a clean transfer and accurate throws across the infield. On the hill, this righty delivers a 3-pitch mix with free arm action. His lower 1/2 works well as he gets good extension and stays directional towards home plate. With the bat, Benjamin shows an athletic setup and gets back into a load. He explodes his lower 1/2, whips his barrel fast through the zone and drives pitches with hard contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Prep step
2. Develop softer hands
Pitching
1. Keep eyes locked in
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Let ball travel
3. Shorter stride to pitch

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
