02/19/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Benjamin is a lean, athletic OF/SS prospect with big tools across the board. His blazing speed jumps off the page as he can impact the game in all areas to take extra bases, steal bases and show extensive range in the field. A switch hitter, he shows a smooth stroke from both sides with feel for the barrel and explosive bat speed through the zone. He stays short, working directly to the ball on a level path and extends through contact to show pop to the pull side. In the OF, he works to the ball aggressively, taking efficient routes to extend his range and track down long fly balls. He gets behind the ball to play through and make strong throws to his target. He creates good angles to throw at short, fielding athletically and feeding the DP quickly. Working on his exchange will lead to a quicker throwing motion and more time to throw out runners. Benjamin is an exciting prospect we look forward to watching as he continues to develop.

06/18/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Greer is a skilled athlete who is very coachable. He is quick to learn and can make adjustments on the fly. In the OF, he tracks down fly-balls hit into the gaps with speed (now running a 6.82 60 yard dash). He secures the ball with 2-hands and has a clean exchange from glove to hand - firing strong throws with carry through his cutoff man. Continuing to work on his initial jumps and reads off of the bat will help to take his skills in the OF to the next level. As a hitter - Greer has rhythm to load and waits for a pitch he likes. Swing is quick through a short/level path as he connects and drives the ball with some pop (exit velocity = 83 mph). He scoots down the 1B line and puts pressure on the defense to make the play. Benjamin (2019 grad) has a ton of upside with still a lot of time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Greer is a very talented athlete who showed very well during his time in Florida. At the plate, this switch hitter can swing it equally as well from both sides. He displays an athletic setup with good balance and rhythm to load. He swings against a firm front side, engaging his lower 1/2 and generating torque. Barrel delivery is compact to and through the zone as he connects and drives the ball with pop to all parts of the field. In the OF, Benjamin covers a ton of ground. He works behind the ball, gathers smoothly and works through it gaining ground toward his target. Transfer/exchange is smooth as he fires the ball accurately into his target. Greer is a solid prospect who is one to keep an eye on over the next few years.

11/15/2015 - College PREP - Pearland, TX Greer is a very talented, athletic OF who has a projectable frame. Offensively, this switch hitter shows slightly better from the left side. He has a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack with quick hands, barreling the ball up and driving it with pop. He hits line-drives and gets out of the box with speed - hustling down the 1B line putting pressure on the defense. In the OF, Benjamin can cover ground as he works lightly on the balls of his feet. He gets behind the ball and works through it aggressively, gaining ground toward his target. A 2019 grad - the future is bright for this young talent.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
