05/26/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Keizer (Salem), OR Benjamin is an athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Benjamin has a free/clean arm circle, he keeps his eyes on target, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He repeats his delivery well, lands with good direction toward home, and he throws strikes. At 1B, Benjamin has good footwork around the bag, he makes plays, and has a consistent arm with carry to his target. Offensively, Benjamin has an open stance, a square stride, and he loads well. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and he can spray to all fields. Skills can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Separation
2. Smooth out actions
3. Stride/balance
Infield
1. Fielding position
2. Backhand
Offense
1. Avoid lunging
2. Rhythm
3. Lower body

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Benjamin is a 2024 two-way player who loves the game and will out work anyone on the field. He shows advanced feel on the bump with an aggressive mentality, ability to sequence pitches and put hitters away. He features a cut fastball up to 56mph with good downward plane and complements it with a deceptive changeup with sink. His delivery is compact and repeatable as he gets to a consistent release point and works in line to the plate to show control of his pitches. At third, he has clean footwork to move laterally and get in front of the ball, fielding with firm hands to keep everything in front. He shows a clean exchange to throw and has an accurate arm across the diamond. At the dish, this righty shows simple swing mechanics to get through the zone on a consistent path. He gets on time with his front foot and launches from a separated position to make consistent, solid contact. Using his lower half to generate power will lead to more hard hit balls. Benjamin is a prospect with the potential and work ethic to become a very good ballplayer.

05/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Keizer (Salem), OR Benjamin is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 3B, he shows active footwork as he fields the ball clean with his backhand. He gives accurate DP feeds and fires throws on line to his target. On the hill, this RHP delivers from a 3/4 arm slot with free arm action. He delivers a 3-pitch mix as he separates on time and extends through towards his target. At the plate, Benjamin displays a square setup. He drives pitches with pull side pop and extends through contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Prep step
2. Work from ground up
3. Develop soft hands
Pitching
1. Pound zone with strikes
2. Use lower 1/2
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Level out swing path
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
