01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Benjamin continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his arm (85 mph velocity) with impressive pop times of 2.16. Offensively, he continues to shine through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel accuracy (82 mph exit velocity) through a line drive approach.

12/29/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Benjamin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.12. He gets rid of the baseball through a quick transfer / exchange with accuracy and carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved power potential from both sides. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Benjamin is a C prospect who showcased his skills during the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. Behind the plate, Benjamin sits in a relaxed primary stance and receives with soft hands. He shows proper footwork to throw and keeps his throws accurate to the 2B bag. He creates good angles when blocking and tucks his chin well. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to consistent contact and line drives into the gaps. Overall, Benjamin is a talented prospect who should find success in this, his freshman season.

08/14/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ Benjamin showed solid offensive and defensive improvements during his last workout in Trenton. At the plate, Benjamin stands in the box athletically and well balanced, he swings in good rhythm, and he uses his lower body. He has a nice swing, finds the barrel, and hits line drives. Behind the plate, Benjamin has fluid/smooth footwork, agile movements, and he sits in low and athletically. He blocks and receives well, he has a quick exchange, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. Pop times also lowered to 2.20 seconds.

04/29/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Benjamin continues to show as a prospect on the baseball diamond and he has improved his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.33 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Benjamin continues to show improvement in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Once on base, he shows plus instincts and is a good base runner. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.59 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and improve his lateral movements. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Benjamin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he improved hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.53 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. With 4 years to further develop, Benjamin has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Benjamin showed off his skills both behind the dish and at the plate during the event. Defensively, Benjamin has soft hands when receiving, and works the outside part of the ball. His ability to anticipate balls in the dirt allows him to work around balls thrown outside the box. He needs to continue to create momentum on his throws while shortening his initial step to second and exchanging the ball in front of his chest. With 4 walks during the week, Benjamin displayed good discipline on balls outside the strike zone. He needs to continue to have a balance stance, attack the inside part of the ball and drive his back hip through the ball. Benjamin needs to continue to stay focused and be a vocal leader on the field. We look forward to seeing his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
