08/27/2023 - National Showcase - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Benjamin is an OF/2B who will graduate in 2024. In the OF shows fluid footwork, with good agility, and ability to cover ground in all directions. Athletic actions who makes it look easy in the OF. Fields from an athletic fielding position and fields out front with a quick transfer. Works behind the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Made accurate throws through his cutoff man from a 3/4 arm slot, with good carry, and arm velocity up to 78mph. In the infield he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and creates good fielding angles on batted balls. Fields from an athletic fielding position with a low funnel. Made on-line throws to first base from multiple arm angles. A right-handed hitter he hits from a crouched and open stance. Center balance at contact point, with a flat barrel path, and ability to get extended out front. Hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph during BP. With another year of development, we see this 2-way player having a bright future on the baseball field.

02/05/2023 - National Showcase - Georgetown, TX Benjamin is an OF/2B who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame lean build with strength present and room to add strength throughout. In the OF, showed efficient feet, with good agility, and ability to cover ground in all directions. Good reads off bat and 1st step is back. He fields from an athletic/square fielding position and fields out front with soft hands. Works behind/through the baseball with a clean gather off left foot. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and arm velocity up to 82mph into infield. In the infield, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and ability to make routine plays. Fields from an athletic fielding position with a clean transfer. Showed ability to pick out hops and creates momentum towards his target. Made on-line throws with good carry. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an upright and square stance. Center balance at contact point, with a flat barrel path, and ability to get extended out front. Hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. With another year of development, we see this 2-way player having a bright future on the baseball field.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Benjamin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/13/2021 - Baseball Factory Summer Classic Benjamin continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and present well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Benjamin is a solid 2-way prospect (2B/RHP) who showed well at the All-Region Tournament. With the bat, this righty shows an open stance with fluid rhythm to load. Loose hands whip the barrel to and through the zone as he engages his lower 1/2 well and squares the ball up hitting line-drives. At 2B, he has active prep and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He tracks the ball into a soft mitt, gathers well with 2-hands and has a clean transfer to throw. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB from an over-the-top arm slot and quick arm action. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and repeats well. FB tops out at 63 mph. Working to finish with more extension on his follow through will getting on a long toss program (increase arm strength) will both aid in his development on the mound. Only a 2024 grad - McCann has a solid skill-set with still a ton of time to progress.

07/18/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Benjamin continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 59-62 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break and loose spin. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Benjamin is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Benjamin takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He gets into a square position and fields with sure hands. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Benjamin improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with good extension, leading to solid contact to all fields. Benjamin can improve as a hitter by continuing to add strength. On the mound, Benjamin is controlled gathering over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Benjamin shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph. Breaking ball sits from 50-54mph with 11-5 break. Driving his lower half more can help Benjamin improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Benjamin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Midland, TX Benjamin showed nice all around improvements during his last workout with The Factory. He raised arm velocity to 65 MPH, exit velocity to 61 MPH, and hitting numbers spiked. At 2nd base, Benjamin has an aggressive approach to the ball, footwork is efficient, and he fields low and athletically. He plays through well, funnels properly, and has an accurate arm across the diamond. On the mound, Benjamin has good balance, a loose arm circle, and he lands with good direction toward home plate. He finishes completely, and competes in the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Benjamin has a tall/open stance, a short/square stride, and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, makes hard/consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Midland, TX Benjamin is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at SS, he takes a quick 1st step and works into an athletic fielding position on GB's. He has a quick exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. On the hill, this RHP delivers a (FB, CH) from an over the top arm slot. He works in line and finishes square towards his target. As a hitter, Benjamin displays an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He whips his barrel fast through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
