Official Scouting Report

  • 3Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Benjamin is a tall, solid, and athletic C/RHP who showed as a top prospect at the Preseason All American showcase. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.06 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, this righty has a 2-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Benjamin has a big upside on the bump and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with abilities. Overall, we've come to find that Ben shows as a good clubhouse presence in every event he plays with Baseball Factory. A+ teammate that makes everyone around him better.

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Benjamin is a 2025 C/RHP out of Hobart, IN who showcased his skills during the BF Academic All-American Tournament. He's a hard worker who hustles and is vocal on the field. Behind the plate he shows athletic actions and knowledge of the game. He tracks pitches well and gains ground to second base on his throws. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 81mph and a best pop time of 2.21 seconds. At the plate he hits from an athletic and square stance with loose hands. Shows good pitch recognition and hammers the pitch up. In live game action, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 5 times with a double, a single, and 3 walks. On the mound he has long levers and a projectable frame. Has a clean arm stroke and extends out front. Shows ability to control the run game and backs up bases well. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Ben continues to chip away and improve at his craft on the diamond. This time we got to see him on the mound and he pounded the zone with both his fastball and slider. He gets tall, throws downhill with extension out in front. Fastball topped out at 79mph with slider sitting 64-66mph. Body type and arm action speak to Sullivan's potential on the mound and stock should continue to rise as he gets more innings there in the coming year. We saw his best pop time behind the dish coming in at 2.01 seconds. Glove to hand is quick and clean with arm strength coming in at 85mph on his pulldown. He shows solid lateral mobility on baseballs in dirt and deadens them consistently using his chest as a roof. At the plate, exit velocities were as high as 85mph. He stays connected and delivers the barrel consistently. This 2025 prospect continues his meteoric rise.

02/26/2023 - National Showcase - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Ben improved in nearly every statistical category since we last saw him two months ago at the Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. Lower half strength has improved resulting in 3 additional MPH on his throws now sitting at 85mph. Know-how and confidence behind the dish are evident. Flexibility is a plus resulting in active footwork and quickness in his ability to deaden and get to balls in the dirt. Exit velocities have improved now up to 85mph at the plate with a middle approach and a decent rhythm. With three high school seasons in front of him, Sullivan will definitely catch the eyes of the collegiate ranks in the coming years.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Benjamin is a solid catching prospect in the 2025 class. Scouts loved his energy and leadership behind the plate. He begins in an athletic and relaxed stance. He is quiet in his receiving and sits under the baseball. He replaces his feet well on his throws and gains a high ¾ slot. His feeds have life (2.20 pop) and carry to the bag. Blocks well and positions his body to defend the ball. At the plate he is disciplined and uses the middle of the field well. He has an athletic base and controllable actions. His swing is simple and repeatable. Shows line drive production and can drive balls to the gap. Had competitive game at-bats (4 hits) and showed strong barrel feel. Overall, Benjamin is a player to watch in the 2025 class.

10/30/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Indianapolis, IN Benjamin is a tall and athletic catcher in the 2025 class. Behind the plate, he has active feet and a strong base. Moves well from side to side and sinks his hip into an athletic position. Works from the ground up and receives the bottom of the baseball with a soft hand. His exchanges are clean and uses long and loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. His feeds are accurate and online (2.10) to the target. At the plate, he generates hard contact (84 exit velo) with gap-to-gap production. Maintains solid body control and keeps his weight inside his feet. Gaining more separation in his load can supply additional power to his swing. Overall, Benjamin is a solid backstop with a plus bat. He has a very bright future and a player to keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
