11/10/2019 - College PREP - Wildomar (Los Angeles), CA Benjamin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he improved his hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 4 years to further develop, Benjamin has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

09/09/2018 - Interactive Video Program - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Benjamin is an athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Benjamin has presentable hands, fluid/active feet, and he fields low and athletically. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is quick and clean, and throws with consistency and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Benjamin has a clean arm circle, he separates on time, and lands in a square direction with a proper length stride. At the plate, Benjamin has a square/athletic set-up, an aggressive swing, and he can hit to all fields. He makes level/consistent contact and uses his lower body. Benjamin can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
