09/15/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Benjamin is an athletic RHP prospect who showed well at the Futures East showcase. On the mound, Benjamin gathers over the rubber and works with a loose, quick arm. He extends through on his release and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Benjamin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 89mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 70-71mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 74mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Benjamin is a talented prospect who has the skill set to excel at the next level.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Benjamin Vespi is a 6'1/150 lbs athlete that showed above average strengths on all sides of the diamond. Offensively, he showed good rhythm with his quiet and simple approach to hit. He sprayed the ball to all fields after getting the barrel through the zone on a level path and tracked the ball deep through the zone. Defensively at 1B, he worked his feet efficiently and controlled his body to get into his fielding position on-time. His glove played soft and he threw with carry across the diamond. On the hill, he threw a FB up to 74, with tail, spun a late breaking 11/5 CB from 58-61, and showed a CH with run & sink from 62-63. His arm action was clean and loose and he was fluid/smooth through his delivery. He commanded his pitches well and worked ahead of hitters with a good overall demeanor and presence. In all - Benjamin is a gifted ball player that has an exciting future ahead of him and we look forward to tracking his progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
