01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hosteler improved his defensive abilities in the MIF, now showing tremendous tools as he displays clean / fluid actions. He moves well laterally, displaying range with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. Hands are soft / sure as he shows big play potential in the MIF. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying outstanding arm strength. At the plate, he shows quick hands that generate bat speed to and through the ball, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he displays gap to gap power through and aggressive approach.

10/22/2014 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Bennett is a gamer who will play at a high level. Offensively, he shows an athletic/balanced approach with fluid rhythm. He squares the ball up consistently and hits the ball where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. He fits the lead-off type mold with his ability to put the ball in play and battle at the plate. Hostetler is a versatile athlete who can play both the MIF and OF. At SS, he shows smooth actions working around the ground ball and fielding it out in front of his body. He comes the get the slow roller and has the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. In the OF, Bennett is aggressive and tracks down balls in the gaps with speed. He gathers well, plays through the ball well and has a cannon for an arm (89 mph), firing throws on a line. Bennett (only a 2016 grad) is and exciting prospect and is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

10/15/2014 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Bennett is an athletic SS with the makings of a special type player at the next level that will graduate in 2016 with plus baseball tools across the board. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.35 60 time. Defensive grade in the MIF is outstanding, displaying smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in attacking ground balls, plays through, and presents soft / sure hands well out front. Lateral movement is a plus as he displays range in the MIF. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play and shows big play potential. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly displaying outstanding arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup, displaying tremendous hitting with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered and works the count to his favor with a strong understanding of strike zone. Barrel accuracy is outstanding and he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Once on base, he utilizes his foot speed to take the extra base, displaying plus instincts. At the event, he was 5 for 9 with a 2B and consistently made hard contact. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is a hard worker. With 2 years to further develop, Bennett has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
