01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament BT is a corner infielder who can swing it. At the plate, he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 90 mph). At 3B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (86 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. A projectable 3B, BT will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic BT continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.15. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved, now showing tremendous potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, he continues to shine, displaying smooth / clean actions. He attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and displays a solid backhand. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (85 mph velocity) across the diamond. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/17/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Highland Park (DFW), TX BT continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.20. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active in attacking ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws displays accuracy and zip (85 mph velocity) across the diamond.

05/21/2017 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Blaine is a very talented two way player (RHP/1B) with athleticism. On the bump, this RHP has a 3 pitch arsenal coming from a 3/4 arm slot and clean arm action. He works to a tall balance point, gets strong glove-side lead and drives downhill toward the plate. FB tops out at 76 mph as he pounds the zone with strikes. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with early action. Changeup shows to be his best off-speed pitch with sinking action. He has a ton of upside on the mound. At 1B, Blaine has active pre pitch movement, works around the ball, and has good footwork on DP balls. He picks out the hops and makes the plays with soft hands. At the plate, Blaine takes aggressive hacks at the ball, squares the ball up, and gets extension through contact. He likes the pitch middle-in and pulls it with pop (exit velocity - 83 mph). Thomas is a projectable athlete (2020 grad) who will be one to keep an eye on as he continues to progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
