10/28/2015 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Blaine is a very hard worker who plays the game the right way. He is always hustling on and off the field. Defensively at 2B, he shows active prep and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He is sure handed, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. DP is turned quickly with a quick release and zip on his throws (arm velocity now at 82 mph). As a hitter - Hardy steps into the box with a purpose. He has good zone awareness and waits for a pitch he can handle. He works back into a loaded position, swings on a level/direct path and squares the ball up consistently. More extension through contact will help to create more consistent pop. Hardy has tools with still a couple of years to get stronger and physically mature.

07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Blaine showed at 2B and as a catcher - for the first time - where he projects strongly for the next level. Behind the dish, feet are active as he stays low and shows a quick transfer / exchange in getting rid of the baseball. Pop times showed a range of 1.90-2.10 with carry and accuracy. Receiving / blocking tools are outstanding and will play well at the next level. At 2B - he shows quick/active footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. Actions are smooth/athletic as he gathers smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. He has the versatility to play multiple spots in the INF. At the plate, hitting grade has improved, now showing outstanding abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus and he has leadership qualities behind the plate. Blaine is very coachable, plays with high energy, and has the makings of a special player.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Blaine is an athletic, 2018 2B/RHP. On the mound, he displayed a nice two pitch mix, while being able to locate both pitches for strikes. With his very solid mechanics and arm side run on his fastball, he is an intriguing young prospect. Continuing to develop arm strength will keep his stock rising on the mound. In the field, Blaine showed the ability to make routine plays consistently and demonstrated efficient hands with solid lower half work to field. At the plate, Blaine displays a very balanced swing and shows good rhythm and a smooth load. He demonstrated good tracking ability and extension through the zone. An improved setup, initially will help Blaine get to a more efficient hitting position on a consistent basis.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
