07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Blake is a talented prospect and has a skilled all-around skill-set. With the bat, he shows a simple approach with good balance. Swing is smooth with bat speed as he connects and hits the ball on a line. He has a knack for squaring the ball up and is a top of the line-up type with his ability to put the ball in play and get out of the box quickly. With the glove, Blake works light on his feet and he moves well laterally. He fields the ball cleanly and has a quick transfer to throw. On the bump, he has a repeatable delivery and throws strikes with both his FB and CH. He can locate an hit spots well. FB tops out at 84 mph while CH shows some sink. Only a 2016 grad - Blake has a bright future in the game.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Crossing continues to shine on a the diamond. At SS, he moves well laterally and can make the tough backhand play. He plays through the ball well and has smooth actions. At the plate, this switch hitter shows well from both sides of the plate. He delivers the barrel with plus bat speed and drives the middle of the field. He is a line-drive type hitter and puts the barrel on the ball consistently. On the bump, FB now tops out at 81 mph as it shows some arm-side run. He throws strikes and gets ahead in the count. Extension on his follow through allow him to finish on his pitch and land in an athletic fielding position. Only a 2016 grad - Blake has a skills to work with and is one to keep an eye on as he continues to mature physically.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Blake is a young, confident 2-way player who showed very well during his time in Pirate City. This was the first time we saw him pitch and we are very glad he did throw at this event. On the mound, Blake has a free arm action, on-time separation, and he lands in a square position. He has good feel for the zone, his delivery is sound, and he aggressively attacks hitters. He is an exciting young talent on the mound with good velocity (81 mph) for his age and size, and great composure. At SS, Blake makes plays, his footwork is solid, and he plays through the ball with accuracy to his target. His arm works very well. Offensively, Blake has good hands, a level swing, and good barrel accuracy. He has an activated load, good balance, and he puts the bat on the ball consistently. His performance at Pirate City earned him an invite to the Under Armour Pre Season All America Tournament. Only a sophomore now, he is one to keep an eye on.

10/27/2013 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Blake is an athletic SS that will graduate in 2016. At the plate is where Crossing shows best as he is a switch hitter that shows great from both sides. He displays outstanding hitting abilities and power through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. From the right side he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At SS, his defensive grades in the MIF are solid. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in attacking ground balls, plays through, and presents soft / sure hands well out front. Lateral movement is a plus as he displays range in the MIF. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Blake has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
