01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Blake continued to show as a prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. Behind the plate, Blake covers up well when blocking and presents a good target to the pitcher. He has a quick, clean exchange with a quick release on his throws and keeps the accurate and on-line to 2B. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone which leads to hard contact and solid gap to gap pop. Blake is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

08/20/2017 - College PREP - Tallahassee, FL Blake is a lean catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times 2.30 2.40 with accuracy and carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and soft / sure glove that sticks balls in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker to improve grade. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power showing best to the pull side. With 4 years to further develop, Blake has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
