08/07/2022 - All-In Membership - Billings, MT Blake is a C/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the dish, Blake shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws on-line to the 2B bag. Making a quicker exchange can help Blake throw out more baserunners. In the OF, Blake shows efficient footwork and takes good angles. He fields with a firm glove and makes on-line throws to his target. Blake can make more plays by working on his foot speed. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and hits against a strong front side, spraying the ball to all fields. Getting into his load sooner can help Blake barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Blake is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Blake is a C/OF that has plenty of room to grow as a player. Blake shows a good ability to block bad pitches and to keep the ball in front of him. Blake can see a lot of improvement in his game through footwork, receiving and throwing velocity drills. Some footwork drills that could help are shuttles, cone drills and ladders. These drills can help with Blake's explosiveness and range behind the plate, so he can make hard-to-reach plays as well as balance and strength for throws. A drill that will help with Blake's receiving would be soft-hand drills. This drill will help with glove accuracy as well as pitch sticking and eye-tracking. To improve Blake's throwing velocity, band work with throwing progression can be a big help. At the plate, Blake shows a closed set up with a good center balance and decent hand quickness. Blake shows improvement in exit velocity by making a jump from 42mph to 67mph. Blake could see improvement offensively by working on getting separation of stride foot and hand load along with utilizing more of his lower half.

04/08/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Billings, MT Blake is a young, 2-way player who plays OF and catcher. In the OF, Blake has active feet, he presents his glove well, and he stays behind the ball properly. He has a good 1st step, his exchange is clean, and throws with consistency and accuracy to his target. Behind the plate, Blake has playable hands and feet, he gives great effort blocking and receiving, and he throws with some accuracy to his target. At the plate, Blake has a square set-up, a short stride, and stands in well balanced. He rotates his hips through the ball and works it well to the opposite field. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
