06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Blake is a talented catching prospect who has an above average, versatile skill set and athletic, projectable build. Behind the plate, Blake has a strong, effective setup moving swiftly with agile actions. He presents a low target and stays square to the pitcher as he receives the ball with a firm glove. He has a quick exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Blake has good momentum through his release and his throws down to 2B are strong with POP times ranging from 1.94-2.07 seconds. Blake does a nice job blocking the baseball as he is quick to his knees and recovers smoothly. As a left-handed hitter, Blake has an open, athletic setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short, square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Blake shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path getting good extension at contact. He has a middle of the field approach and produces consistent contact. Blake is a line drive hitter who shows power to the pull side. Overall, Blake has an above average skill set on both sides of the baseball giving him the potential to be a difference maker at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
