08/13/2021 - Baseball Factory Summer Classic Blake is a 2022 prospect out of La Porte, TX. At 1B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He tracks balls well and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

08/02/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Blake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and worked hard during his time at Pirate City. He is coachable and hustles all over the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays clean/smooth actions and works into an athletic fielding position behind the GB. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Transfer is smooth with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an open setup. He has rhythm to load and jumps on pitches he likes. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all parts of the field, spraying line-drives. Blake has tools with upside as he enters his junior year.

02/16/2020 - College PREP - Missouri City (Houston), TX Blake is a 1B that graduates in 2022. At 1B, Blake works hard to create good angles to the ball and can benefit by being more aggressive to the ball. As he fields, he gets into a square fielding position presenting a confident glove making a clean exchange as he works to throw. He gets rid of the ball with a short arm action making consistent and accurate throws around the diamond. Hitting, Blake starts in an open stance taking a square stride to start his swing and works hard to get the barrel on plane. He fires his lower half through showing fast bat speed as he hits the ball to all fields. Blake has several years to develop and will continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
