09/08/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Blake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.10. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At SS, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays smooth fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball shows good sinking action and life. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Blake is a two-way 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2021. He showed great mound presence and the ability to command two pitches for strikes. On the mound, Blake has a projectable frame and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and showed a fastball and a curveball with clean mechanics. At the plate, he started from an athletic, but open stance and used a fluid, forward load to start his swing. He displayed quick hands through the zone which allowed him to stay direct to the ball and make consistent contact. He used all fields and showed a gap to gap approach. Using his lower half more will help create more power. In the infield, Blake showed a great pre-pitch setup and clean fielding actions. He displayed good range making a slick backhand play. He fields out in front and makes a clean exchange into his throw. Improving arm strength by long tossing will help Blake. Adding strength and flexibility will help Blake continue to develop as he matures. He will be a solid prospect to watch in the coming years.

05/07/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Bowie, MD Blake is an athletic, 2-way player at SS/RHP. Defensively at SS, he displays solid footwork with a smooth backhand glove. He comes up with a clean exchange and plays through the ball towards his target. On the mound, this righty gathers over the rubber and delivers a 3-pitch mix with clean arm action. He works in line and finishes square towards home plate. With the stick, Blake sets up square in the box with smooth rhythm. He drives pitches with pull side pop as he extends through contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Work into low fielding position
2. Develop soft hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Separate on time
2. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
3. Keep FB down in zone
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
