07/29/2011 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament - 2011
Rivera showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Stockton, CA. Feet are active and aggressive in attacking while playing through a low approach as he presents his hands down / out front. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure as he makes the plays. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by staying on a long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. Offensively, Blake shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and he shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Swing path gets long as he needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 2 for 8 with a 2B and 5 BB as he displays a good eye and sound recognition of strike zone.

Blake is a tall, strong, SS who will graduate in 2012. Defensively, Blake has plus size, good athleticism, and decent hands. He makes plays on balls hit his way, and can also play 3rd base. He improved both his arm and fielding grades from 38 to 45 and 35 to 42 respectively. Defensive numbers can continue to get better with lighter feet, better lateral movements, and improved rhythm. At the plate, Blake has good balance and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. He uses his hands well, he puts the ball in play, and he had 3 doubles and a single in live game play. Blake will need to stay on the ball, and improve barrel accuracy to further improve offensive tool grades.
