  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Blayne is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 3B, he works to center the baseball and plays with good effort/energy. Works into an athletic fielding position with good glove actions and soft hands out front. Made accurate throws to first base from multiple arm slots, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 79mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and uses his lower half well. He has a simple and repeatable delivery. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 75-77mph with plus command, a breaking ball with 11/5 shape, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed that has some sinking action. CH was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he hits from a tall and square stance. A simple setup to start and takes an aggressive swing. Keeps bat flat in the zone for a long time and made consistent contact. During his round of BP, he hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him making huge strides on the baseball field.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Blayne is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. Large frame athletic build with strength present with a lot of room to fill out. At 3B, he passes the eye test and has a good arm. Showed good range and soft hands as he fields from a low fielding position. Short arm action into a high 3/4 release point with consistent throws. On-line throws, with a quick release, to first base with a recorded arm velocity up to 77mph. On the mound, he showed a clean arm with simple mechanics. Late drive to plate who pitches to contact. Blayne works off of a FB that sat 73-74mph with slight movement. Mixed in a developing 11/5 breaking ball that he uses to keep hitters off-balance. Right-handed hitter starts with a open and athletic stance. Quiet head enables him to track pitches well and battles with 2 strikes. Has a good idea of what pitch he is looking for. Showed some quickness to hands, with good hip rotation, and ability to hit balls to both gaps. Reached base 3 times and had a bat exit velocity of 78mph in live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - (MS) Blayne is a 2027 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series. At 3B, he starts on the balls of his feet and moves well laterally with active feet and good body control. Works from right to left and fields from a square fielding position with his hands out front. Showed a 2-hand exchange, with a loose arm stroke, and made accurate throws to first base with an arm velocity up to 75mph. A right-handed pitcher, he showed good poise on the bump and has a strikeout pitch. Starts with simple rocker step and takes the proper stride length. Attacks hitters with a FB that sat 73-75mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with good depth, and a CH that he throws with FB arm speed. During the event he punched out 4 hitters and induced soft contact. A right-handed hitter he stays balanced throughout his swing and showed a simple/repeatable swing. He hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 67mph during BP. In live game action, he reached base 4 times with a double, 2 singles, and a base on balls. With 5 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Blayne making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
