Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Blaze is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect. At 1B, Blaze is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and he works off the bag well. He creates angles to the ball and he creates a good throwing lane on double plays. At the plate, Blaze starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he keeps the barrel on plane to the ball. He rotates his core and he shows gap to gap power. On the bump, Blaze gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and he has a clean arm action. He commands his fastball down in the zone and he has tight spin on his breaking ball. Blaze is a competitor and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/25/2019 - 2019 UA SoCal Classic Upperclass Participant Big bodied corner infielder. Swings the bat with authority and has plus pop. Had exit velocity of 95 mph. When he swings, he has deep compression at contact. Big size and will be limited to the corners, but has a mature swing and plan at the plate. Very good hitting prospect at the next level. 10/26: Big bodied player. Has a live arm and uses his legs to drive when he pitches. Fastball was 85-86 topping at 88. Very firm and locates well. Slider was 71-73 and curve ball was 64-65. Used both well and could throw for strike. Change up was well developed as well at 68-70. All around good player and has major upside at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
