07/05/2017 - Under Armour Firecracker Classic 18U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Bobby continues to show improvements at both his positions in the OF and on the mound. In the OF, foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.10. In the OF, he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in tracking down balls. He utilizes his lower half well through his crop hop as he gets behind and stays behind the baseball in getting rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with a 2B and 3 RBI. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 84 mph. Fastball showed good arm side run and has quality off speed stuff that will get outs at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well with plus deception. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup continues to show as a plus tool as he is a great teammate and is a student of the game.

01/29/2017 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Bobby continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.30. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average, displaying fluid / smooth actions. He utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls through an aggressive approach. Hands / feet work well together as he works to get behind balls and plays through well. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap to gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late/sharp break. He have improved his changeup as he maintains arm speed with plus arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Bobby has the tools to play at the next level and is a sure player to follow, possibly as a two-way guy.

06/18/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Bobby is a solid 2-way player who showed well during his time at the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, this RHP has a solid mound presence and looks the part. He works to a tall/controlled balance point and drives downhill in-line toward the dish. Arm works loose & free as he works the ball to both sides of the plate showing tremendous command. FB shows run and will get in on the hands of RHH's - now topping out at 81 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with good action as he commands it well. He works ahead in the count and competes giving his defense a chance. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left with good angles to work into position behind the fly-ball. He has a clean transfer with strong throws into his cut-off. With the bat - Bobby has a patient approach waiting for a pitch he likes. He takes a hack at pitches on the inner 1/2 and shows some pull-side pop. Alexander has tremendous upside and will compete when he toes the rubber.

01/31/2016 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Bobby is a tall RHP that will graduate in 2019. On the mound, this righty throws a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He works through a strong balance point and has smooth overall actions. FB is well above average for his age (currently a freshman) topping at 77 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains his arm speed and shows a feel for his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With the bat, Bobby loads his hands well and shows good timing and balance with loose actions through the zone. Using his lower half more and staying shorter will help his hitting to improve. With 3 years to further develop, Bobby has present abilities with time to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
