10/18/2015 - College PREP - Santa Rosa, CA Bobby is a talented 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the mound, this righty has an effective 4-pitch arsenal (FB, CB, CH, KN) from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works downhill off of the bump and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges form 76-78 mph working both sides of the plate. Curveball has 11/5 shape with late action - showing to be a solid out pitch. Changeup has good drop as he keeps it down in the zone. At SS, Cruz takes a quick first step working on the balls of his feet. He works into a square fielding position, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Quickening his release to throw will help to develop his abilities on the left side of the diamond. Offensively, Bobby steps into the box with a purpose. He takes a hack, creates consistent contact and engages his lower 1/2 well. Only a 2019 grad - Bobby has a ton of upside and will make things happen on the diamond over the next few years.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
