01/13/2012 - Arizona National Spring Training - 2012 (Pre HS) Bobby is an athletic and solid catcher who also pitches. Behind the plate Bobby sets up wide, has soft hands with a quick exchange. His footwork is quick and he stays in line with his throws. When blocking he centers and deadens the ball while staying athletic. He is very raw behind the plate, but shows the willingness to learn and with his skills should be very solid for the future. At the plate Bobby keeps his hands back with his load, takes a small stride, and has stable balance. He takes a solid swing every time and makes consistent contact while using his lower half well. On the mound Bobby throws a hard fastball that he keeps down in the zone. He is very athletic and shows his competitive side with good mound presence. Would like to see him throw more consistent strikes and continue to work on his mechanics. With his abilities he should learn on the fly and continue to improve with age.

12/11/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Ontario, CA Bobby is a young, athletic catcher with good skills. Behind the plate, Bobby has firm hands, active feet, and he moves well laterally. He catches in a low position, his exchange is quick, and he throws with a quick arm action with carry to 2nd base. At the plate, Bobby has an athletic set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He has a still head, he makes hard contact, and he can work the ball gap-to-gap. Bobby swings in good rhythm, he has some pop in his bat, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
