Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

04/11/2021 - All-In Membership - Oklahoma City, OK Boston is a 2021 OF/RHP. Medium frame, long levers, thin build and room to add strength. Primary right-handed pitcher has long levers and a projectible frame with a quick arm. 3 pitch pitcher with three different speeds and some command of all three pitches. FB was up to 80mph and around the zone. A 10/4 shaped curveball with good break. Best pitch was his changeup, throws with FB arm speed and good tailing action. Secondary OF gets behind and plays through baseball. 1 hand high catch and high exchange. Accurate and online throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and throws recorded up to 90mph into the infield. Right-handed hitter with an upright and closed stance. Quiet head/eyes allow him to track pitches well. Does a good job of keeping his weight between his feet. Ability to get on plane early and stay flat through the zone with some pull side pop and a bat exit velocity of 83mph. Excellent two-way potential who should have opportunities to play the next level with continued growth and development.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Boston continues to shine on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 70-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He throws a knuckleball that shows slight tumbling action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/14/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Boston is a thin and talented 2021 2-way prospect. At SS, Boston is on time with his pre-pitch movement and has a quick first step to the ball. He presents a low/early glove, creates angles to the ball, and works from the ground up. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Boston starts in a tall stance and has a direct swing path to the ball. He has a compact swing and is a line drive hitter. Continuing to load his hands back into the drive position and attacking the ball with the lower half will allow him to create more power in the swing. On the bump, Boston gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has good tempo in his delivery. Continuing to work north to south and extending thru his release point will allow him to pound the strike zone more consistently. Boston made several adjustments throughout the week and applied the drill work into his game. Boston will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Boston is a lean SS who will graduate in 2021. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Boston has abilities with time and room to progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
