06/03/2015 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Bowen is a all-around solid athlete (6'1"/200) who will make things happen in many facets of the game. With the bat, this strong righty shows a tall setup with simple/quiet actions. Quick hands whip the barrel through the zone as he connects with pop to all parts of the field. He has good zone awareness proven by his 3 BB's. In the OF, Bowen coves ground with long strides. He works behind the ball, gathers well and has a cannon for an arm. He threw a missile to 3B from the RF line on a runner trying to tag up. On the bump, Plagge throws a FB & CB from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to stay on top and drive downhill, utilizing his tall frame. FB ranges from 78-81 mph while showing occasional sink. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape (67-68 mph). He pounds the zone and throws strikes. Bowen is a great teammate who brings positive energy to the field. He has a well rounded skill-set and will play at a high level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
