Official Scouting Report

  • IF/RHPPosition Projection

09/19/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Brad is an athletic RHP/IF that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best in the IF for the next level due to his offensive abilities. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with plus barrel accuracy. Hands work inside the baseball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap pop. In the IF, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. Defensive abilities will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, plays through while presenting hands more out front, and increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Brad has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with baseball abilities, especially at the plate.

06/06/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Bradley is a big bodied (6'1'/225) 2-way player as a RHP/1B. On the bump, this righty works to a tall balance point, maintains level shoulders and drives downhill toward the dish. Separation is smooth & on-time as he repeats well. FB still tops out in the upper 70's as he can hit his spots well. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape (57-59 mph) while changeup has slight sink (64-67 mph). At 1B, Bradley shows active footwork moving well around the GB and into a square fielding position. He gathers smoothly and is sure handed. Offensively, this strong righty tracks pitches into the zone. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone as he connects with pop. Bradley is a talented player who will make some noise with his bat.

06/08/2014 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Bradley is a lean, athletic 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 77-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as excellent pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is superior as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. At 1B, defensive abilities are slightly above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Hands are soft / clean and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. He needs to increase foot quickness to improve defensive abilities. At the plate, he shows a balanced / closed setup. Hands are loose, quick and works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Kavka has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
