At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 62 mph. fastball showed a range of 61-62 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving stock on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
