Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City In Braden's most recent Factory outing, he showed as both a first basemen and a pitcher. At first, he showed some knowledge of work around the bag and focused his attention to his ready position footwork. With added speed/agility, Braden will enable his feet to work more fluidly at first, causing cleaner bag work. Offensively, he has good hitter presence - is a big strong guy that gets the bat to the ball. Maintaining a soft stride will enable more head control and balance, leading to more consistent contact. On the bump, he throws three pitches with his BB being his most effective pitch. Adding feel to his change-up will make him more of a threat on the hill. In all - Braden is a solid/tall built young player that has a couple more years to refine his playing ability in preparation for the next level.

07/07/2013 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Braden is a R/R 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2015. With the bat, he is pull oriented with a level swing path and balance. He has decent barrel accuracy and has power potential within his untapped lower half. At first, he has an ability to keep the ball in front and has playable footwork. Playing lower in his fielding position will enable his hands to be further out in front and will help with securing the ball in the glove. On the bump, he throws three pitches from the 3/4 arm slot. Coming to a more controlled balance point will allow for greater control and eventual command on his pitches. In all, the young two-way guy has two more years to develop and hone his skills for potential next level play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
