12/06/2015 - College PREP - Crowley, TX This smooth fielding MIF continues to show well. At 2B, he works fluidly from right to left around the GB. He presents his glove, funnels smoothly and works through the ball toward 1B. Backhand is soft as he can pick it and is clean from glove to hand. At the plate, Braden gets good separation with rhythm in his hands. He barrels the ball up with the ability to drive it the other way. Braden is a defensive specialist who should find success in this his senior year.

07/13/2015 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Braden continues to progress on the diamond. 60 yard dash is now at 7.14. With the bat, this righty has fluid rhythm to load and waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is quick as he stays inside the ball and drives it with pop. Defensively, he shows quick/active prep footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He secures the fly-ball, gathers smoothly and works in-line toward his target. Braden is a well-rounded player who should find success on the diamond.

12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Braden again showed at 2B and flashed a best 7.42 60yd dash. Defensively, he moved well with good body control and active hands. He gave quality feeds on the DP with plus lateral movement. Offensively, Braden remains square to the plate with activated hands and good balance. He showed a solid approach mentally with his ability to work deep into counts. He does a great job of staying short to the ball and will see more out of his swing with extension. Braden is a good kid that shows a great desire to play the game.

11/02/2014 - College PREP - Midland, TX Braden only showed at 2B at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.45 runner. He utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range in the MIF. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He is patient and very selective at the plate and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more aggressively.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Braden is a lean 2B/OF that will graduate in 2016. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with slightly above average power through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers continuing to improve as he learns to load more. At the event, he was 5 for 10 with 2 2B. Once on base, he is a smart, aggressive base runner and will take the extra base. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and makes the routine plays. At 2B, he works to square balls up but needs to attack more, play through and present hands more out front to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
