Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

11/02/2014 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Brady showed solid improvements on the mound during his last workout in Tampa. He has a balanced delivery, a free arm action, and he separates a bit deep, but on time. He has good mechanics, he commands the zone with his pitches, and he lands in a proper fielding position. He has confidence in his change which has good tail/sink and is thrown with good arm speed. Continuing to add arm strength, and sharpening his CB will continue to improve mound effectiveness. In the OF, Brady fields on time, he works around the ball well, and he fields out in front of his body. He has low hips, soft hands, and throws with a long arm action to his target. A quicker first step and throwing on a downhill plane will improve abilities in the OF. At the plate, Brady is a contact hitter with an open stance, and a balanced approach. He tracks the ball well and has some strength to the pull side. He seems to be more consistent when using a leg kick stride as opposed to a double-tap approach. He has a natural, loose stroke with a feel for the barrel. Overall, this is a potential 2-way player with higher upside on the mound as a strike-throwing LHP with a solid 3-pitch mix.

07/30/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Brady is a coachable player who understands the game. In the OF, Brady makes all routine plays, he moves well to the baseball, and he shows the ability to throw accurately to his cut off man. On the bump, Brady has the ability to change speeds on the hitter, he uses his lower body, and he spots his FB on both sides of the plate. Offensively, Brady is an aggressive hitter with a good eye for the zone and a smooth swing.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Brady is a young, 2-way player with a good feel for the game and with solid baseball IQ. In the OF, Brady moves well to the baseball, he goes back on it well, and he plays through some. He makes plays, and throws with a loose arm action with consistency to his target. Better positioning, and a quicker 1st step can help defense get better. On the mound, Brady has a long arm action, a controlled balance point, and good direction toward home. He works in good rhythm, finishes completely, and he competes in the zone. Mound effectiveness can improve if Brandy can avoid wrapping his back arm action, use more lower 1/2, and develop a more consistent release point. Offensively, Brady has an open / athletic set-up, he keeps his hands back, and he has good strike zone awareness. He puts the bat on the ball consistently and hustles down the line. If Brady can let the ball travel deeper, and develop more bat speed / strength, offense will spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
